Catalytic Converter

Catalytic Converters from Walker and Bosal

Control Arm and Ball Joint Assembly

What is a Catalytic Converter?

The purpose of Catalytic Converter is to reduce the amount of pollutants and emissions in a vehicle’s exhaust. It converts the exhaust from the engine into a less toxic form before releasing it into the air.

Like other exhaust parts, catalytic converters are subject to extreme heat and weather conditions. Over time, the converter can become damaged, clogged, or worn out. If this happens, engine performance and fuel economy may be affected, and harmful pollutants may be released into the air. This can make it difficult or impossible to pass an emissions test, and the catalytic converter will need to be replaced.

Signs that a Catalytic Converter Needs to be Replaced

  • Check engine light is on
  • Rattling sound from underneath the vehicle
  • Reduced engine power
  • Drop in fuel efficiency
