Oil Filters
The oil in a vehicle’s engine keeps all of its moving parts lubricated, preventing build-up, absorbing heat, and generally keeping it all running smoothly. The oil filter is an important part of this operation, keeping the oil clean and preventing dirt and debris from entering the vehicle’s engine.
How often does an oil filter need to be changed?
Much like engine air filters and cabin air filters, engine oil filters are a normal part of vehicle maintenance that need to be changed at regular intervals. It is generally recommended to change a vehicle’s oil filter every time an oil change is done, usually every 5,000 - 8,000 km, or every three to five months depending on driving conditions or the type of oil used. Consult your owner’s manual for a precise vehicle maintenance schedule.
An oil filter for a car or truck is a relatively inexpensive part that can prevent a lot of damage to an engine, and save you lot of money down the road. A clogged oil filter can allow debris directly into the engine, potentially causing major damage that can be difficult and expensive to fix.
