When to Replace a Door Lock Actuator
- Power Door Locks Not Working
- Power Door Locks Functioning Intermittently or Erratically
- Abnormally Loud Noises While Operating the Door Locks
What is a Door Lock Actuator?
A door lock actuator is a small electric motor that can be found in any door with power locks. It is responsible for locking and unlocking the door when the door lock switch is pressed.
Power door locks are a frequently used component on many vehicles, and can wear out after extended use and time. An actuator may also fail due to an impact, water, or rust. If a power door lock no longer works, or is locking and unlocking erratically, it may be time to replace the door lock actuator.
